Moderate HC leader visits Mufti’s residence, expresses condolence

SRINAGAR, Jan 9:

Senior leader of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Prof Abdul Gani Bhat today visited the residence of late Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to express condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family.
Chairmen of both the factions of the HC Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq have already expressed condolence on the demise of Sayeed who passed away at AIIMS, New Delhi on January 7 morning.
However, Prof Bhat was the only separatist leader who visited the residence to personally express condolence with the family of Sayeed.
Prof Bhat, who also headed the HC as its chairman for several years, praised the former Chief Minister and described him as his best friend.
Recalling his days in the University, he said the former Chief Minister Sayeed was doing MA while he was a student of Persian.
He said,’’despite differences we were still so close friends that our different ideologies never came in the way of our friendly relations.’’
Recalling Sayeed as the best leaders Kashmir has produced so far, Prof Bhat said he was a politician with a vision of brining India and Pakistan closer. (UNI)
