JAMMU, Jan 11: Senior Congress leader and member Civil Society Kishtwar Shamsher Singh Bhandari today made an appeal to Governor N N Vohra to terminate contract of Rattle Project and issue fresh tenders so tat the work on this 850 mw power project can be started at an earliest.
Mr Bhandari said that after the stopping of work on the project by GVK and LNT over one year back, the youth of Kishtwar who were working in the project have become totally idle.
He said the abandoning of the work on the project by the company after taking overdraft has put the State exchequer to a heavy loss and the Government should not allow the company to have monopoly and play with the interests of the State people.
He said by delaying the work on the project will result in cost escalation which will be further loss to the State. Moreover, it will also delay the generation of power when State is facing severe power crisis at present.
Bhandari also demanded four lanning of Batote Kishtwar Highway to avert the frequent accidents on it as the highway is totally in a bad condition. He said since its handing over to R&B the condition of the Highway has further deteriorated.
