JAMMU, Jan 12: Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), today visited the Advance Centre for Rainfed Agriculture, Rakh Dhiansar and took stock of on-going research and developmental activities at the centre.
The VC was accompanied by Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, Dr Deepak Kher, Project Planning and Monitoring Officer (PPMO), Dr M M S Zama, Dean , FV Sc & A H, Dr S K Sen, Comptroller and Er T R Bhagat
Vice Chancellor exhorted scientists to work with zeal to resolve the core research issues of rainfed farming. Officers of the university interacted with the scientists of centre and assured them to provide institutional support to conduct specialized research keeping in mind the requirement of the farming community.
During the visit, Dr Anil Kumar Sharma, Incharge ACRA, presented a comprehensive overview of activities undertaken at the centre. Dr Vikas Abrol, Sr Scientist of ACRA, expounded the detailed account of multi disciplinary research undertaken at research farm of the centre and at farmers field. He highlighted the flagship research areas prioritized to cater the immediate and long term needs of the farming community of rainfed areas under domain areas.
Other scientists of the centre, Dr Reena, Dr Sonika Jamwal, Dr Rinder Singh and Dr A C Jha were also present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Advance Centre for Rainfed Agriculture, Rakh Dhiansar is the nodal research centre of SKUAST-J to cater the requirement of farming community of the rainfed areas of the Jammu region.
