Set up Minority Commission in J&K: Sikh Council

JAMMU, Jan 15: J&K Sikh Council (JKSC) has urged upon the State Government to set up Minority Commission and also implement Punjabi language in schools and colleges in the State.
Addressing joint press conference here today, president of the Sikh Council (J&K), Harmohinder Singh and general secretary- Gurvinder Singh alleged that State Government has ignored the issues of the Sikh community and they are being discriminated since long. Despite repeated requests and representations by various Sikh bodies, the State Government did not pay any heed towards the issues of this minority Sikh community.
The Sikh leaders urged upon the Government to set up State Minority Commission, implement Punjabi in schools and colleges, to grant general amnesty to Sikh prisoners, resolve issue of POK refugees, grant political reservation to Sikhs in J&K and provide cabinet berth to Sikhs in coming Government. They said that Sikh community has been ignored in every sphere of life and Sikh members should also be inducted in Public Service Commissioner and State Recruitment Board.
They warned the Government not to test the patience of Sikh community members and provide them justice without any delay. They condemned the attitude of previous BJP-PDP Government for totally ignoring Sikhs in the State.
