JAMMU, Sept 7: Continuing with their efforts to protect consumers interest, department of legal Metrology booked two manufacturers under different provisions of Weights and Measures Act and rules made there under.
According to Manoj Prabhakar, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology, Inspector Pooja booked M/s Barista, a chain of restaurant for smudging MRP on packed items and M/s Intex Technologies for using stickers for declaring mandatory declarations, which is in violations to rules.
Accordingly cases were booked and notices issued to both the companies, which thereafter pleaded guilty and rectified the omissions. A fine of Rs 50, 000 was imposed and recovered as a composition sum from both the defaulters.
