VIJAYPUR, Jan 16: Accu-sing Govt of insulting martyrs, Congress activists today held a protest demonstration in Vijaypur town in Samba, demanding compensation in favour of  kin of  Defense Service Crop (DSC) employee who scarified his life while fighting terrorists at  Pathankot Air Force base recently.
Led by former minister and  PCC general secretary Manjit Singh, the protesters assembled in SDM office Vijaypur and protested against the ignorance of  Government towards the suffering of the martyr family of  Mool Raj. Raj,  who is resident of Jakh Chandla (Vijaypur) was killed while fighting Pak sponsored terrorists in Pathankot.
Addressing gathering Manjit Singh alleged that BJP  which used claims as  more patriotic than anybody else, has ignored and  insulted the martyrs. “The family of  Mool Raj was not given compensation like other States in India.  Other states regarded their martyrs and gave them adequate respect as well as compensation. But J&K Government turned its back and insulted the martyr family”, Singh maintained.
“Our Government did not bother about the martyr family and offered no help,” the senior PCC leader said, further adding that no assurance was given to the family.
He said that the Government also did not take over the responsibility of education of the children of the martyr family.
Similarly, Naib Subdar Ram Singh was also killed in Manipur while fighting with  terrorists  but he too, was ignored. “The martyrs are not respected here like other states of the country which is unfortunate,” he said and demanded that Rs 50 lakh compensation should be given to the martyr families.  Later, the Congress workers handed over a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra through SDM Vijaypur.
Those who spoke on the occasion include Babal Gupta, Bharat Bhushan, Capt Harnam Singh, Capt Mohan Lal Sharma, Ram Murti, Tilak Raj Sharma, Shamsher Singh Jamwal, Prabhdayal, Sajjaan Singh and Tirath Bhagat.
