Cong leader for four lanning of Batote –Kishtwar Highway

JAMMU, Jan 17: Senior Congress leader and member of civil society Kishtwar Shamsher Singh Bhandari has reiterated his demand of four -lanning of Batote -Kishtwar Highway and also construction of other roads in far-flung areas of the twin districts of Kishtwar and Doda.
In a statement issued here, today he said the worst condition of roads especially in hilly areas is one of the root cause of increasing road accidents and loss of precious human lives. Bhandari said Government on the priority basis should pay attention towards road safety which is not possible without the widening of roads.
He said it is unfortunate that after 70 years of independence the condition of Kishtwar –Batote road has not improved and the people of two districts are facing problems due to bad condition of Highway which has taken many lives so far.
He also made an appeal to Governor N N Vohra to call fresh tenders for Ratle Hydel Project on which the work has been abandoned over one and a half year back. He said the delay in its construction will be a heavy loss to State exchequer. He also demanded that the work on other power projects in Chenab Valley be also started.
