3 arrested for running online cricket betting racket

JAMMU, Jan 18: Police team arrested three persons for running online cricket betting racket operating from a house in Nanak Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information regarding online cricket betting, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station conducted a raid in a house at Nanak Nagar wherefrom playing cards, stake amount of Rs 12,000, eight mobile phones and two laptops were recovered from the possession of three persons.
The accused have been identified as Anil Mahajan alias Gulla, son of late Hari Krishan Daya and
Rajnish Balgotra, son of Parkash Chand, both residents of Nanak Nagar and Sahil Gupta, son of Vinod Kumar of Sarwal.
In addition to gambling, these three accused persons were engaged in online cricket betting through mobile phones and laptops.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law against them at Gandhi Nagar police station. The investigation of case is going on and the involvement and arrest of other gamblers connected with this racket.
Police team led by SDPO South Sachin Gupta and assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Bishnesh Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Shazaad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
