MENDHAR, Jan 19: A team of Crime Branch from Jammu today visited Govt Degree College Mendhar and examined the building and lifted samples of the slab and other material used for the construction of this building.
The building had been constructed by NBCC hardly eight years ago but due to highly sub-substandard work on this building seepage started at different parts and also cracks were developed . The College authorities wrote to the Higher education authorities and also to the Deputy Commissioner Poonch and accordingly the Crime Branch of State police registered a case.
Today a team of Crime Branch led by Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed on the directions of SSP Crime Mubassir Lattiffi and two experts from R&B Department and a Ist Class Magistrate from Poonch district paid visit to the College at Mendhar and took out samples of the slab and cement/ material used in the construction in presence of the Principal of the college and few staff members. The Crime Branch team then left for Jammu, telling that the samples would be sent to the Labs for testing.
The Principal of the Degree College Prof Javed Ahmed Qadri disclosed that during rain, most of the rooms get leaked and the college record and furniture has also been badly damaged due to seepage. He said that impartial inquiry is needed so that guilty are punished. Huge public money has been used for this building and it has turned into shambles in just 7-8 years.
