Driver, associate held for smuggling bovines

JAMMU, Jan 19: Jhajjar Kotli police arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling 9 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02L-9897 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 9 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Pritam Chand, son of Diwan Chand and Butta Singh, son of Gurdas Singh, both residents of RS Pura.
They were smuggling the bovine animals to Valley, but active cops of Jhajjar Kotli police station foiled their bid.
A case under FIR Number 9/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered against the accused at Jhajjar Kotli police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
