Sir,
This refers to the write up ‘Managing solid waste’ DE Jan 10.
The author has raised an important issue which concerns our day to day life, and is connected with our environment and health. Not managing solid waste scientifically is pregnant with problems.
The waste littered on roads and colony lanes not only presents an urgly picture, but causes great inconvenience to residents, and animal species. The agencies responsible for its disposal should find novel ways to dispose it off. There should be experts who may have learned the ways of disposal garbage in foreign countries and their services be utilised to handle this job.
Besides, land pockets should be identified where this garbage can be dumped safely. It is necessity of time and needs to be taken seriously.
Yours etc…
Veer Singh
