People of J&K State shall have to wait for few more years to avail full benefits of Direct Benefit Transfer scheme (DBT) because absence of Aadhar in the State could make its inclusion impossible. Low percent of enrollment and unavailability of wide network of banking services in the State are two main causes which will become hinderance in launch of the scheme.
This Unique Identification Card mission, was started in J&K during 2010 when two districts Ganderbal and Srinagar and Kathua and Jammu districts on model basis were taken in hand as first phase. First Aadhar card was issued to then Chief Minister of J&K Omar Abdullah. After the lapse of more than five years, about 50 percent in Jammu City and less than that in Kathus town have enrolledfor it. The rural and subtown areas have not been touched yet. Where as other districts are concerned it is yet a distant dream. Govt of India is again and again announcing that aadhar card is a must for every citizen of India. In Jammu there is no office of this Authority from where one can enquire approach to know about its further action plan. It seems that Govt is not keen to provide these IDs to the people. The Govt. is therefore requested to attach priority for completion of this Aadhar Card so that people may get benefitted.
