Mir reviews membership drive in Reasi district

JAMMU, Jan 21:   Pradesh Congress Committee president  GA  Mir today reviewed the ongoing membership drive of the party in Reasi district as part of the exercise undertaken by the party to strengthen the cadre base in the State.
Mr Mir chaired a meeting of prominent leaders and workers of Gool-Gulab Garh and Arnas Assembly segments led by Deputy leader of CLP Aijaz Ahmed Khan-MLA and Mumtaz Ahmed Khan-MLA and took stock of the progress in the membership process at the booth level. The party workers apprised him of the organizational activities and the keen interest shown by the people towards the policies and programmes of the Congress party.
The PCC president emphasized upon the need to enroll the genuine members in order to strengthen the cadre of the party in every nook and corner of the State. He said that Congress is the only party which represents the wishes and aspirations of each and every section of the society and believes in the unity in diversity in real sense which is the basic strength of our nation.
He said that J&K  State is like a mini India in view of its diversities and it is the responsibility of  the Congress party and its workers to strengthen the bonds of unity and integrity of the State and the nation. He said the strengthening of  Congress means strengthening secularism and brotherhood for a better future of the people of the State. He lauded the efforts of Aijaz Ahmed Khan and Mumtaz Ahmed Khan  to strengthen Congress party in the area and their role to represent the people in the Legislature.
Manmohan Singh, general secretary and  in-charge Reasi also spoke on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by Block presidents and other prominent leaders from the area.
