One killed, nine injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Jan 21: One person was killed and nine others were injured in five separate road mishaps in Jammu district.
According to a police spokesperson, a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02N-0702 collided with a Brio car bearing registration number JK11A-4516 on Akhnoor-Jourian Road near Bomal, late last night.
In the mishap, the driver of the Maruti Car namely Darshan Lal (55), son of Bindraban, a resident of Ratanpur (Jourian) was seriously injured while his two sons namely Ravi Kumar (24) and Pankaj Kumar (20), and another man Vikas Bhardwaj son of Dawarka nath, a resident of Nikkian Khour, got minor injuries. All the injured were rushed to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, where doctors declared Darshan Lal as brought dead. The other injured were discharged after providing first-aid. Today, after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
A case FIR No 11/16 under Sections 279/337/304A RPC has been registered in this connection at police station Akhnoor and both the vehicles involved in the mishap seized.
Three pedestrian including two children were injured when a Wagon -R bearing registration JK12-6070 hit them while they were crossing a road at Sidhra area of city outskirts. The injured identified as Anisha (12) and Aiyan (5), children of Bashir Ahmed and Musrat Begum (32) wife of Abdul Rashid, trio residents of Sidhra were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment. A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and vehicle involved in the mishap seized. However, the accused driver managed to escape from the spot.
In Narwal area of city outskirts, a pedestrian identified as Vinod Kumar (38) son of Kewal Krishan, a resident of Miran Sahib, was hit and injured by an unknown vehicle, today. In another mishap at Narwal, a truck hit and injured a pedestrian, who has been identified as Singhal son of Kirti, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, at present living in Channi Rama. Both the injured were shifted to GMCH for treatment. In both cases, Police Station Bahu Fort has registered cases and arrested the accused truck driver namely Ali Mohd of Makakote and seized his vehicle in connection with 2nd case.
Meanwhile, a bike-borne youth identified as Mohd Asif (25) son of Mohd Javed, a resident of Surankote suffered injuries when his bike got slipped in Akhnoor area. He was also taken to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter.
