Ex-Corporator attacked by IRP Jawans

JAMMU, Jan 22: An Ex-Corporator of Narwal area of Jammu was attacked this morning by two IRP Jawans in Channi Rama area of city outskirts after the former refused to give lift to one of the Jawans in his car.
According to a police spokesperson, the Ex-Corporator identified as Kamal Singh son of Chanchal Singh, a resident of Ward No 49, Channi Rama, was on his way to Railway Station Jammu in his Wagon-R, when two IRP Jawans in civil dress stopped his vehicle and sought lift from him.
Before he gives lifts to them, he asked the two Jawans to show their identity. As one of the Jawans failed to show his identity card, he refused to give lift to him. Furious over the refusal, they engaged into a heated argument and soon turned violent and thrashed the man.
Hearing the cries of the victim, the locals rushed to the spot and save him from the violent Jawans. The injured Ex-Corporator was immediately shifted to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police has registered a case in this connection and acting swiftly arrested both the accused IRP Jawans, who have been identified as Mohd Iqbal of IRP Battalion 16 and Ashiq Hussain of IRP Battalion 20.
The arrest was made by a team of police post Narwal led by Incharge Sub Inspector Mehmood Khan under the supervision of SHO Trikuta Nagar, Kuldeep Khajuria.
