Rs 15,500 fine imposed on traders

POONCH, Jan 22: Under the supervision of Assistant Controller, Kewal Krishan, a team of officials from Legal Metrology Poonch conducted surprise raids at various trade establishments of Surankote and its adjoining areas and imposed a fine of Rs 15,500 on the defaulters.
The team used dummy customers to detect various anti-consumer practices adopted by some traders to earn illegal profits. On the basis of a complaint, a couple of trade premises were raided at Surankote and the concerned erring traders were booked for selling packed commodity with smudged Maximum Retail Price and on further investigation from purchase bills it was found that the trader was fraudulently selling the pack of beverages on exorbitant rates over and above the MRP actually printed by the company.
