JAMMU, Jan 22: Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Modi Government is committed to safe and honourable return of displaced Pandits to the Kashmir valley.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of ABVP function here  today, he said no return module will be framed by Government without taking the displaced Pandits into confidence. While allaying the fears in this regard, he said “Whatever policy programme will be framed in this regard the displaced people will be taken on board”.
Declaring that the return and rehabilitation of Pandits is priority of Modi Government, he said the displaced people should also frame a single opinion on this issue so that Government can act accordingly.
Maintaining that the popular Government is always better than Governor’s Rule in a democracy, Dr Singh favoured formation of a popular Government in the State as early as possible. In response to a question does BJP have to play any role in Government formation, he said “the BJP is playing its role and we are very well in the picture”.
On the MLA Langate Engineer Rashid’s outbursts against BJP activists, Dr Singh said that law will take its own course. When asked will BJP demand action against the MLA, Dr Singh said the law enforcing agencies in the State will take their own view on the subject.
He parried questions on Indo-Pak prevailing situation and recent Pathankot attack saying External Affairs Ministry is dealing with the situation.
On the reported allegations leveled by Congress and other parties on Hyderabad university episode, Dr Singh said that Human Resources Development Minister, Smriti Irani has already cleared the Government stand on the issue.
