RAMBAN, Jan 27: Jawahar Tunnel police arrested a passenger along with 13.200 kilograms poppy straw.
As per police sources, during checking at Jawahar Tunnel, police team intercepted a passenger carrying Tavera car bearing registration number JK01P-9228, which was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar.
During checking, police recovered 13.200 kilograms poppy straw from the possession of a passenger and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Qadir Gujjar, son of Karim Gujjar of village Gutroo, tehsil Tral, district Pulwama.
A case under FIR Number 11/16 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Jawahar Tunnel police post SI Mohammed Irfan made the arrest under supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq Chowdhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
