JAMMU, Jan 28: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, who is also Chairman Regional Red Cross Society, today reviewed the arrangements for the annual Red Cross Mela, to be held on February 6 and 7 at Gulshan Ground here.
Various issues for successful organisation of the mela were discussed like arrangements for preparation of site plan and installation of stalls, preparation for inaugural and closing ceremony, parking, publicity, display of banners, cultural items, bands, uninterrupted power and water supply, security, sanitation, fire services and medicare etc.
Instructions were issued to the concerned departments to collaborate and contribute among themselves and with social organizations and NGOs for smooth conduct of mela. He stressed on proper advertising and publicity for the mela to create awareness among the masses so as to ensure maximum participation in the mela. Divisional Commissioner said that greater participation in the mela will ensure awareness among masses regarding Red Cross Society and help in the generation of funds for the welfare activities of the society.
He directed the Municipal authorities to display banners on prominent points, make available mobile toilets units and deploy additional safai karamcharies to ensure cleanliness in and around the venue.
To make the event more attractive, various Government and private schools and other organizations would organize cultural items, painting, singing and dance competitions, Dog Show, Healthy Baby Show, Tambola and Raffle Draw. Special performance by the para military forces would be one of the highlights of the Mela.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Regional Red Cross Society, R.C. Puri, SP Traffic Mohan Lal besides senior officers of concerned departments, officers of armed services, Principals of various Degree Colleges among others.
