SRINAGAR: Working president of the National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah questioned the cooperative federalism and said Raj Bhavans are being used to engineer defections or bully states by threatening to withhold their funds.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, former Chief Minister Mr Abdullah said, Amazing model of “cooperative federalism” use Raj Bhavans to engineer defections or bully states by threatening to withhold funds.
He was reacting to a tweet which said ?Straight forward blackmail by @BJP4India J&K won’t get central funds unless it’s part of the Govt.
The tweet was referring to formation of new government in Jammu and Kashmir, where Governor’s Rule has been imposed after the death of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in AIIMS, New Delhi on January 7.
Sayeed was heading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state since March last year before his death.
However, Mr Abdullah’s tweet got different reactions on the twitter. Some said you (Omar)failed during his regime while others asked him not to misguide people as Jammu and Kashmir is a sensitive state. A Tweet wanted to know how much funds were given to Gujarat during UPA rule of which NC was a partner.
A tweet wanted to know does NC’s offer of unconditional support to PDP for government formation stand today as well. (agencies)
