NEW DELHI, Jan 29: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department participated in the South Asia’s leading travel show South Asian Tourism and Travel Exchange (SATTE) which started today and is culminating on Jan 31.
Union Minister of Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma inaugurated the show and he later visited the J&K Pavilion where he was received by the officers of J&K Tourism including Special Secretary Tourism Mohammad Hussain Mir, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah, Deputy Director Tourism Publicity Kashmir Peerzada Zahoor and other officers of the department.
The Union Minister appreciated J&K Tourism Department for printing best publicity material about different tourism products of the State. J&K Tourism Department has printed separate brochures of heritage, golf, MICE, leisure, off-beat destinations, wild life besides releasing festival calendar of the Tourism Department.
Tourism Department participates in SATTE every year which is Asia’s biggest travel trade show where potential buyers and sellers from all over the world visit to explore the tourism potential. The SATTE also hosts seminars and panel discussions during the exhibition. It is one of the biggest opportunities for the travel trade fraternity to attract visitors to their states.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah interacted with the foreign and domestic tour operators who visited the J&K Pavilion. J&K Tourism has provided table spaces to local travel and hotel associations of all the regions – Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh – who displayed their publicity material for the promotion of J&K’s tourism potential. The J&K Tourism Department also circulated brochures and banners highlighting state’s tourism potential under the theme of “See J&K in a new light”.
Both foreign and domestic players in the hospitality sector, hoteliers, travel agents, e-commerce tourism companies visited each stall at the J&K’s Pavilion and interacted with the hospitality and travel trade representatives. The travel trade fraternity provided them all the information about the J&K’s tourist spots, newly developed tourist spots and the tourism related activities and festivals being organized from time to time for tourists.
The Director Tourism Kashmir also participated in the panel discussion in the SATTE where he highlighted tourism potential of all the regions of the state including its art, craft, heritage, cuisine besides adventure and leisure tourism.
J&K Tourism Department is also organizing “J&K Evening” at Qutub Minar in New Delhi in collaboration with SATTE to interact with the SATTE participants.
Secretary, Tourism Farooq Shah would be the chief guest on the occasion who would speak about J&K’s tourism potential and the newly developed tourist spots besides the activities, festival and functions it is organizing in the state during the year.
