Ujwal GuptaBorn on February 24, 1988, Ujjwal Gupta is an International Fencer, who is the recipient of prestigious Sher-i-Kashmir Award for outstanding sportspersons in the year 2010. He has the honour of winning State Award 2012 for best sportspersons. He participated first time in sub-junior national in Nasik (Maharashtra), then he got first medal (bronze) in the year 2004 in Aurangabad (Maharashtra). In the year 2005 he became Junior National Champion. He participated in first International Championship-Junior Cadet at Kuwait in 2006. He also participated in Commonwealth Fencing Championship. In year 2007 he went to Russia for World Championship. In 2008 he went for Asian Championship to Qatar. In year 2010 he became South Asian Gold medalist for India and also won it in 2012 as well. In the year 2012, he participated in the Asian Championship at Bangkok in Thailand. He is also national games medalist as in 33rd National Games (Assam) he got silver medal and 35th National Games at Kerala, he clinched bronze. Ujjwal has the distinction of winning All India Inter University Gold medal for Jammu University. Ujjwal has the honour of winning 4 gold medals at the International Level and can boast of winning 9 gold, 17 silver and 30 bronze medals at the National Level in his career. He is presently working as a Physical Education Teacher in the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
