Srinagar, Feb 9: Police today said an abducted girl hailing from Handwara area of North Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district has been recovered from Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh. The kidnapper has been arrested.
A police spokesman said on 5th of last month it was reported to it that a minor girl (name withheld) has been abducted by Dilawar Ahmad Sheikh. “To this effect a case FIR number 07/16 was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation was taken up,” he said.
During the investigation, several accomplices of Dilawar were arrested for their involvement in facilitating the kidnapping, said the spokesman. “The investigating team’s strenuous efforts got the information that the kidnapped girl has been taken outside the State in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
He said police, in coordination with the State police of Himachal Pradesh arrested the accused along with the abducted girl. The girl was later handed over to her relatives, the spokesman added.
