JAMMU, Feb 9: A deputation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) met the Chief  Secretary B R Sharma here today and apprised him of the problems of the displaced persons of  1947.
Led by Gurdev Singh, president of the Committee, the members including Netar Parkash, Yograj, Daulat Ram and others, during meeting presented their view point regarding one time settlement of the DPs of PoK. They also urged upon the Chief Secretary to gear up the machinery  to expedite the process of early disbursement of Rs 2000 crore relief package.
Gurdev Singh while referring to the settlement package said that the DPs have manifold problems pertaining to State and Central Government,  which have remained unaddressed even after the lapse of more than 68 years. He urged upon the Chief Secretary to clarify the roadmap/ details of the package which has rather giving solace to the DPs, has created confusion among them as till date no clarification has come from the Government in this regard. There is no clear idea regarding quantum of relief being provided to each family and number of families/ units going to be covered under this package.
He pointed out that in the previous package submitted by Omar Government,  5300 DP families residing outside the State have not been included. He expressed his concern that the families qualified for ex-gratia grant in 1960 should be taken in account. Moreover, the bifurcation of families will create hazards in the process of smooth disbursement of amount which would be against the interest of DPs.
While expressing full faith in the efforts of Governor N N Vohra and  Chief Secretary B R Sharma, The refugee leader termed this package as base for final compensation which would prove a milestone to mitigate their sufferings.
