JAMMU, Feb 11: A peaceful protest march will be taken out on February 13 to press for the  demands of the reserved categories of J&K.
This was stated by Sheikh Abullah Jalili, Chairman of Kargil JAC during a press conference here today.
He threatened mass agitation across the State if the bureaucrats sitting in power corridor go on misinterpreting the Supreme Court order of “STATUS QUO” in the matter and Governor as well as Advisors not interfering in the matter.
He further informed that the protest march will start from Press Club and will culminate at Indira Chowk or Brigadier Rajinder Singh Chowk.
Jalili said that with the formation of new coalition Government, the reserved classes pinned lots of hopes for overall development and welfare of reserved categories of J&K. They also expected proper implementation of reservation in recruitment, promotion and all other developmental schemes but the way, the issue of reservation in promotion was dealt by the Government first in High Court and then callous and non-committal attitude after arbitrary, anti-reserved categories and anti-constitutional blanket ban by High Court, a sense of insecurity is widespread among these sections, he stated.
He stressed upon Governor and his two Advisors to prevent the misinterpretation of ‘Status quo’ order of Supreme Court over the DB verdict in which the reservation in promotion was struck down.
Bodh Raj Bhagat, Vice President, All India Bhagat Maha Sabha warned the bureaucrats not to misinterpret the Supreme Court order, for which they may have to face the consequences.
Sham Lal Bassan, President, Dalit Chetan Manch lambasted the failure of previous Governments to adopt the 77th, 81st and 85th Amendments of Indian Constitution.
Mohammad Mukthar Khan, EJAC Kargil and Tashi EJAC Leh requested the Governor, Advisors and Chief Secretary that in view of socio-political and legal dimensions of the matter, the administrative secretaries as well as other heads may be requested not to affect any OPG/regular promotions in any department till political dispensation is back in place.
Among others present were Tsewang Thinless, Chairman Leh, Mohinder Bhagat, Prof Kali Dass, AIBCU, retired employees and social activists.
