Give property rights to refugees: Manjit

HIRANAGAR, Sept 9: Demanding reservation of jobs for the wards of refugees of 1965 and 71 in the State, former Minister and Congress leader Manjit Singh today said that refugees be given property rights.
Addressing a public meeting at  border village of Haria Chak in tehsil Hiranagar today, Manjit Singh said the Government should give property rights to the refugees since they are residents of this State. He said the refugees are struggling since long but they have been deprived of their rights.
The Congress leader said the issue of West Pakistan refugees will be addressed by the Central Government, the State Government led by NC leader Omar Abdullah should provided property rights to the refugees of 1965 and 71. He said the condition of non-camp refugees of 1965 and 71 was also not good.  He  demanded comprehensive settlement of  their demands.
Mr Singh said the refugees who left their property during 1965 and 71 should be given property rights and  their children be given 4 % reservation in jobs. He also welcomed the efforts of  PCC delegation led by Prof Soz to take up issue of refugees with the PM and Home Minister.
EX-MLA, Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Partap Choudhary , Numberdar Sobha Singh, Ch Bachan Lal, and Ex-Sarpanch Anil Choudhary were also present.
