2 Traffic men suspended for taking ‘hafta’

JAMMU, Sept 9: Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police, Danish Rana today suspended two Traffic men and disengaged another after they were caught taking ‘hafta’ from the vehicle operators on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Official sources said that DIG Traffic, Jammu was on his way towards Srinagar in a private vehicle when he noticed three Traffic police personnel taking ‘hafta’ from a trucker at Kunfar Nullah. The DIG immediately stopped his vehicle and caught the men in blue red-handed while accepting ‘hafta’.
An amount of Rs 780, which the Traffic police personnel had taken as ‘hafta’ from various vehicle operators during the day was recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, DIG ordered suspension of DTI Javid Iqbal and Selection Grade Constable Javeed and disengaged SPO Mohd Ishaq. SSP Traffic National Highway, Virender Sharma was directed to conduct inquiry and submit report within shortest possible time.
