Kashmir Chamber of Commerce apprises Governor about industry related issues

SRINAGAR, Feb 16: A delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc), headed by its president Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, called on Governor N N Vohra today at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.
The delegation brought several issues to notice of the Governor and discussed the same in detail. The Governor resolved a couple of the issues on the spot while for other issue, he assured that the same shall be looked into and due consideration given in due course of time:
According to a handout, issued by the KCCI, the Governor issued on the spot direction for exemption of 12.5 percent Service Tax on tourists in the hotel industry and bringing Artisan Credit Card Scheme at par with Kisan Credit Card by extending all the relevant facilities to the Artisans.
As the delegation demanded Exporter / Manufacturer loans on lesser rate of interest to increase the manufacturing and export the handicrafts from the State, the Governor assured that the matter would be looked into.
The delegation drew attention of the Governor towards utilization of fallow forest land for plantation of high yielding Walnut variety plantation and the damage caused to the Apple orchards due to 2014 deluge. They demanded hybrid apple plantation and making the required saplings available for the same in the State.
The delegation also brought to the notice of the Governor the impact on the tourist inflow by closing the National Highway for tourist and other traffic during Darbar Move to facilitate smooth Darbar Movement and pleaded that the dates for the movement of Darbar related vehicles/carriers be notified in advance so that the tourists could schedule their travel programme accordingly and that the special permission be granted for movement of light tourist vehicles during the Darbar Movement.
The Governor was also apprised that the repair of the Airport run-way during the peak tourist season badly affects the tourists inflow to Kashmir which in the long run results in low tourist turnover. The Governor was accordingly requested to ask the Airport Authority to avoid/ reschedule repair works of the run-way during the peak tourist season so as to allow smooth tourist movement.
