AJHLA appeals Guv to ensure re-start of work on artificial lake

JAMMU, Feb 16: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has urged Governor NN Vohra to ensure resumption of stalled work on artificial lake project on Tawi river on priority basis.
In a statement issued here, president, AJHLA, Inderjeet Khajuria said that the artificial lake project on Tawi River was taken up with the sole objective of strictly avoiding polluting the water of this sacred river besides a source of attraction. He said the Lake Project is nearing completion except some mechanical works and construction of 15 diversion channels to divert and keep away filth and municipal waste from the neat and clean water of lake.
Explaining about the shattered economy of Tourism related Jammu traders, Khajuria said that due to train link extension to Katra, Jammu tourism and its economy has suffered a great set back so much that the livelihood of about five lakh souls dependent on tourism has come under threat. So, there is dire need for completion of this dream project of Jammuites as the same has the capacity of attracting considerable number of yatries besides tourists from Shri Vaishno Devi as well from Kashmir.
Making fervent appeal to Governor NN Vohra, Khajuria said that to save Jammu it is imperative to complete the artificial lake project soon, which once commissioned will go a long way in developing its economy and shall be a great source of attraction for the devotees as well as tourists besides helping Jammu in becoming an independent tourist destination.
