Vaid finalises arrangements

JAMMU, Feb 16: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) headquarters (PHQ), S P Vaid, today convened a senior police officers meeting to take stock of the arrangements made in connection with 27th Police Public Mela, being held on February 21, 2016 (Sunday) in Jammu.
The meeting, which was also attended by Additional Directors General of Police, Navin Agerwal and Dilbag Singh, discussed the arrangements in thread bare and finalized same for smooth conduct of the mega event.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Vaid sought reports from the committees constituted for making the arrangements on different fronts. The meeting was informed that almost arrangements have been completed for the day long Mela.
It was told that sale of raffle draw tickets has already been started at various places across the State and the people are showing keen interest in getting tickets. People’s participation at large scale is expected and keeping in view this, security arrangements in and around the venue and police bandubast for the occasion is being focussed on priority. For the convenience of the public, parking slots have been identified and traffic arrangements finalized.
Mr.Vaid, while addressing the meeting, said that during the past few years, Police Public Mela has assumed much popularity among the masses and the people across the State have been seen anxious for their participation in the grand event. The occasion has brought the force much closer to the public and people from all shades of life are participating in the Melas in twin capital cities of the state.
ADGP informed that Police Public Mela, will be inaugurated at 10 a.m. at Gulshan Ground and conclude at 5 p.m. Raffle draw in presence of public will be held at the venue at 4 p.m. sharp. He said this time some more fabulous prizes have been introduced to make the event more attractive for the public. He said that the transparency in raffle draws has strengthened the trust of the people upon the organizers.
The meeting decided that the stall holders from various police establishment centres would reach Jammu before three days of the event to establish their traditional products in stalls at the identified space. They would ensure display their items in a befitting manner. ADGP asked the designated officers to check the quality of the goods to be displayed for sale and ensure reasonable rates.
Earlier, AIG Welfare (PHQ), Dr. Haseeb Mughal, briefed the meeting about the arrangements put in place for successful conduct of the event.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGPs, AK Choudhary, HK Lohia, Deepak Kumar, MS Salaria, Yoginder Koul, MA Khan, SL Sharma, Jagjit Kumar, MA Ganai and JP Singh, DIGs, AA Wani and Johny William, AIGPs, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Tahir Sajad, Kulbir Singh and Sheikh Zaulfikar Azad, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand and other police officers heading the different committees for the event.
