SRINAGAR: An encounter was on between militants and security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said here this afternoon.
Militants, reportedly travelling in a vehicle, attacked a security force party near EDI Pampore. Security forces retaliated. More than 100 employees of the EDI and civilians are said to be trapped inside the EDI building.
Traffic on the highway has been diverted but large number of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the highway, they said.
