Jammu, Feb 20:The Depart-ment of Statistics, University of Jammu, successfully organized the 18th Annual Conference of Society of Statistics, Computers and Applications. On the third and concluding day of the conference many researchers who had arrived from various parts of the country shared their research works with fellow delegates.
A technical session on “Statistical Modelling” too was held during last day of the conference in which Prof V Subramanian and Dr Amrender Kumar delivered the lectures about nuts and bolts of modelling in theoretical as well as applied areas of Statistics. In another technical session held on Statistical Analysis and Big Data Analytics the experts through their lectures threw light on the new developments in emerging area of Big Data Analytics.
The society announced and conferred theM N Das Memorial Young Scientist Award to Dr.Akanksha S Kashikar of Department of Statistics,Savitri Bhai PhuleUniversity,Pune.
The day ended with Valedictory function of Prof J P Singh Joorel, Organizing Chairman of the conference, briefed about all the activities during the three days of the conference.Prof Rahul Gupta presented vote of thanks.
Prof I M Kapahy ,member , University Grant Commission was the chief guest and Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar ,University of Jammu and Prof Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affair were the guests of honour.The certificates were distributed to all the delegates during the valedictory function.
