JAMMU, Feb 21: Up in arms against denial of local Joint Venture partner in signing the sale deed of property at under construction mall at Akhnoor Road despite getting full payment, the aggrieved investors today staged a protest demonstration in front of the land owner’s house.
They raised slogans against the landowner, who kept hiding inside the house and sent his employee to confront the agitating people, including women, who were demanding the execution of sale deed of the property, which they had purchased.
The protesting investors dispersed off following an assurance by some Crime Branch officials, who informed the people that there were already pending cases against the accused landowner Amarnath Choudhary.
Pertinent to mention that the mall situated on Akhnoor Road is almost ready from the last two years and around 200 people have invested for purchasing shops there. This mall is being developed by a reputed real estate company from Rajasthan in collaboration with local JV partner, who is owner of the land as Article 370 of the Indian Constitution does now allow a non-State subject to purchase land in J&K. As per the agreement, the local JV partner will provide the land and the company would develop the mall.
However, even after the mall being constructed on site, the landowners allegedly refused to sign the sale agreements or execute the sale deed of the clients.
Although the landlord had himself published a notice in leading newspapers on 22/08/15 wherein he had invited the clients to get their sale deeds executed, he befooled the investors once again and even misbehaved with them after they approached him.
As the clients approach the Developer’s representatives, the company reiterated its position that it had completed the mall and provided all the basic facilities as per agreement and the sale deed has to be executed only by the landowner, who has already been paid his 35 percent share. The company also displayed the agreement copy, wherein it was clearly stated that the landowner has received his due share of payment.
The protesting people told the Crime Branch officials that the landowner was blackmailing them as well as the Developer by delaying execution of sale seed.
Before dispersing off, the agitating people threatened to stage a sit-in in front of the landowner’s house if the issue is not resolved within 2-3 days.
