SRINAGAR: All the three militants, holed up in a government building in south Kashmir district of Pulwama since February 20 were killed this afternoon, official sources said.
Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel N N Joshi said he was waiting for official confirmation about the killing of all the three militants.
Sources told UNI that Special Commandos stormed the area where the militants were trapped in the multi-storied building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) at Sempora, Pampore, about 12 km from here on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
All the three holed up militants were killed and operation was now over though searches are being conducted to see if there is any unexploded material, they said, adding that the bodies of the militants have been recovered. Large cache of arms and ammunition have also been recovered, they said. However, the identity of the militants was being ascertained, they said.
Militants had entered the building after attacking a CRPF convoy in which two jawans were killed and 13 others, including an Assistant Commandant, were injured.
Later two Army captains and a Lance Naik besides a gardener were also killed in the encounter in the building. (AGENCIES)
