LAWDA mismanagement

Sir,
This has a reference to the editorial “LAWDA mismanagement”. It contains detailed account regarding the actual State of affairs in the authority constituted to safeguard healthy living environment for the human beings by way of development and preservation of water bodies of the State. In fact, honesty has become rare quality in today’s life. To what extent the LAWDA has contributed is a matter of concern because there has been no development on fastly shrinking Mansar, Surinsar and Sanasar lakes. It seems that no preservation work has been done to save these famous lakes. We  do not want Dak Bunglows and Rest House near these lakes but we want the natural preservation of these lakes. For example your entry to Surinsar lake from Jammu side will open your eyes as if we are entering narrow and garbage filled lane of a village. Same is the condition of Mansar lake towards residential area. If there is some State level agency it should extend its honest activities to these lakes also and at least restore their original area. There should be complete ban on upcoming unplanned construction work. The SMDA should also arise to the call and do something on the ground. The other semi-dead lakes of Chenani area like Dhera-Top,Mada Lane and Kulasar etc. should also be developed by LAWDA. Let us learn from our great fore-fathers how Nandni Talab was constructed by “Rani Pathani” queen of Raja Ram Singh of Ramnagar by selling her entire ornaments and jewellery to provide a water body for living beings in dry area. The LAWDA should streamline its activities for public welfare.
Yours etc..
