JAMMU, Feb 22: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Trade Union (JKPDTU) today nominated a senior trade union activist from SKUAST-Jammu, B N Singh as provincial vice president of the PDP’s Trade Union wing.
Declaring this here today at a media-interation, president of the JKPDTU, Suresh Sharma said that Union has resolved to strengthen the wing in the region while reaching out to the employees’ representatives. He said Mr Singh is president of SKUAST’s Non-Teaching Association. He hoped that with the nomination of Mr Singh, the trade union activities of this unit would get strengthened.
The PDTU leader further declared to extend support to the one day protest programme of the SGEJAC outside Raj Bhawan at Jammu on March 9. He issued appeal to the employees to actively participate in this protest programme as the Government has failed to address the burning/ pending issues of the employees of the State. Several trade union leaders were also present.
The main demands projected on the occasion included- release of 6 % DA, regularization of all daily wagers, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre and some others already projected, budgetary support to PSUs, merger of State Forest Corporation with Forest Department, enhancement of Medical allowance of employees and pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month and grant of dislocation allowance.
