JAMMU, Feb 23: Balwant Thakur’s highly acclaimed children play ‘Aap Hamare Hai Kaun’ staged here today by Natrang at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu in connection with one day induction level training of newly appointed teachers on teaching ethics and pedagogy organized by Directorate of School Education (DSE), Jammu.
Shaleen Kabra, Commissioner/Secretary to Government School Education Department was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Shah Faesal, DSE Kashmir and Smita Sethi, DSE Jammu, graced the occasion amongst over 1500 newly recruited teachers.
‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ shakes parents, educationists and guardians of society out of reverie of materialism, consumerism and unbridled desires. The play compels elders to look around and clear the mess they have created due to their own amorous ambitions and rat race.
Parents see in their children an extension of their unfulfilled dreams and force them to become stereotypes and kill the bountiful charm in them. In a pursuit to make them top professionals, doctors, engineers and civil servants, they are subjected to every kind of cruelty. The children become mechanical and hardly get time to discover their real self. Prevalent educational system adds further insult to the injury and their creativity gets scuttled and children grow up devoid of values.
The play deals with contemporary problems that younger generation is up against from their own loved ones and surroundings. Tall claims and big concerns of parents, relations, and educationists are being questioned by the younger generation…… Aap Hamare Hain Kaun.
The music of the play was composed by Suraj Singh and Karan Malhotra was on rhythm. The lights of the play were designed by Suraj Ganjoo and executed by Ankush Lakhnotra.
