The nation bleeds

Mousumi Kalita Sachdeva
Man –the most reasonable being on this earth seems to be an ironical statement today. As the world heads towards advancement and progress and we term ourselves as the most learned, the motherland is left with just poetic statements. The erudite people proudly shouldering the high flying words like ‘connectivity’ and ‘technology’, making their eyes pop out with every minute updates on Facebook and Twitter fail to realize the meaning of connectivity today. The social media supposed to unite the Nation seems to be a platform to vent out the feelings of hatred and denunciation.
Where are we heading to? What could be the reason behind such violence and unrest if we are established as the reasonable beings? Why do we fail to apprehend the ultimate outcome to be sheer destruction? Probably the term ‘peace’ has lost its existence in the post- modern world of connectivity? India is girdled with poisonous insects and the medication is far off. The Freedom of Speech has given rise to protests and turbulence. Militancy is embraced as Demand for Rights. Realization of Duties has been upturned to the extreme realization of Rights. The Nation known for her Tolerant feature suffers severe intolerance today. I fear to mention the incidents as examples for that would be to cut all to the quick and may give rise to innumerable critical comments. After all, no stone has been left unturned to disrespect our Freedom of Speech. The media has its job to make us aware of the happenings of in and around our country and no one remains unaware of a single episode. Educational Institutions have become a display land of remonstrations and the places of Indian beauty are left in the fear of being orphaned. Brothers are on the front of severance and the strong family is on the verge of disunion. Soldiers achieve martyrdom every other day and we have no answers to the loss. Death becomes a matter of pride and yet the people fail to pay true tribute. The states remain frozen and the normalcy breaks down. Students grow restless as they remain in a quandary with the schedule and reschedule of the exam dates. Roads remain blocked, fire alarms everywhere, family members wait in pain and the great leaders enjoy the pride of VIP cars.
Amidst this heart-touching setting, the onlooker also gets an occasion to watch the scenes of humour as an interlude of the great drama. People with expensive SUV cars are seen to protest for reservation whereas the poor rickshaw pullers are seen in a grievous state trying to meet their daily income without giving much heed to the demonstration. Indeed a must- watch scene!! And the technically well-informed class of people keeps updating the episodes on Social Networking Sites giving rise to great Debates in an effort to create pages of culpability. The Debates revolve round the blame game but fail to reach a suitable solution. And the picture of blame game is of course no more hidden. The Right blames the Left; we blame the system putting the Government into a whirl of questions and the Government….. (for the readers to delve deep and fill the gap). But where lays the elucidation?
The fight continues and would go on and on until we as a Nation unite and realize our Duties first than try to quest for our Rights. Or we wait for a day when our Motherland would be stripped apart with our ignorance. We have no rights to term ourselves as the educated class if we are blind to our Nation’s need. Would it not be a better indication to rise high above the inconsequential issues and fight for the economically weaker section that still yearns to enjoy the Right to Education?
The Nation bleeds-mere culpability is no solution. The sooner we debate on reaching the solution, the better would be the way to save our Motherland.
