JAMMU, Feb 26: The ‘Lok Rang Mahotsava’ – a festival of folk music, dances and arts, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, concluded today.
Jai Kumar Sharma, Director College Development Council, who was the chief guest in the valedictory function, awarded the Rolling Trophy to Sant Mela Singh College of Education for being overall champions of the festival.
In folk song (group) event, KC Gurukul College of Education stood first, Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education second and Bhartiya College of Education third while the certificate of merit was awarded to Sant Mela Singh College of Education. In folk song (solo), Vandana Devi from Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Bhavna Sharma from Sant Mela Singh College of Education and Menu Sharma from Sant Mela Singh College of Education were adjudicated first, second and third respectively.
In Folk Dance competition, Sant Mela Singh College of Education stood second, Surya College of Education third and Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education received the certificate of merit.
In Rangoli event, Himani from Surya College of Education stood First, Komal from Dogra College of Education second and Sakshi from Sant Mela Singh College of Education stood third. Certificate of Merit was awarded to Reetika from Bhargava College of Education.
Anjali Sharma and Randhir Kumar were the adjudicators for the Dance event while Dr Subidha Khanna was the teacher in-charge. Jagpal Singh and Richa Gupta were the judges for Rangoli event. Members of Campus Cultural Committee, students, scholars and cultural secretaries were present at the occasion. The event was coordinated by Ifra Kak, Culture Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor.
In his welcome address, Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare informed about the programme where folk songs, folk dances and Rangoli were featured Dogri Folk Dances were performed by the participants in which the rich cultural heritage was presented.
