JAMMU, Feb  26:  Even as the condition of several KGBV teachers  deteriorated, their hunger strike outside Press Club of Jammu continued on the 11th consecutive day today.
The Government has been using police force to crush the agitation as these teachers engaged in  Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalya (KGBV) schools were not allowed to take out candle march or silent protest march to Raj Bhawan twice in last four day. The condition of three teacher Jyoti Bala from Poonch,  Mymoon Khan from Kupwara and another from Ramban deteriorated and they were hospitalized but after proving them fluids/ glucose in hospital they again resumed their protest dharna and hunger strike.
Agitating teachers said that nearly 700 teachers were engaged by the State Education department  during 2005  under Centrally sponsored scheme,  in 99  schools  across the State  but these teachers were not regularized till date.
Mymoon Khan spearheading the agitation said that  Governor’s Administration was trying to gag the voice of the  agitating teachers  who are protesting democratically and in peaceful manner.  Ms Khan said that out of  total 693 teachers  appointed,  hardly 90 teachers have been regularized on pick and choose basis till now while all others have been ignored.  They were engaged on ReT pattern and all of them have completed  the full term of  5 years. They are still waiting for their regularization for the last 3-4 years.  She said that winter session schools are going to be opened on March Ist, 2016  but no KGBV school will function till their genuine and justified demand is considered.
