JAMMU, Feb 28: A man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Raipur Satwari area of city outskirts while another made an abortive attempt on his life near Railway Station Jammu.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Brij Lal (38) son of Madan Lal, a resident of Raipur-Satwari, yesterday consumed some poisonous substance at his residence. Finding him unconscious, the family members shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he expired late last night.
Today, after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
In a separate incident, Shanbir Basraj of the Maratha Light Infantry was found unconscious at a rest house near Railway Station Jammu, last evening. He was immediately shifted to GMCH where doctors said that he had consumed some poisonous substance.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
