JAMMU, Feb 28: Natraj Natya Kunj Jammu presented its multilingual play ‘The Last Colony’ here at Abhinav Theatre.
Written by Kumar A Bharti, the play was directed by Abhishek Bharti and supported by Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi.
Former MoS for Education, Culture and Information, Priya Sethi was the chief guest and Dr Aziz Hajni, secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the guest of honour.
The play emphasizes on the fact that social and intimate violence by individual or group perpetrators are not the only oppressors of women. The script was adapted from true events which were infectiously lapped up by the global media.
The profoundly thought provoking drama with a serious message entwined to it counters this very apathy of State administration, law and order policing system and the general sense of social ethics.
‘The Last Colony’ echoes the plight of today’s women and their constant struggle. The language of the drama ranged from Hindi, Dogri, Urdu and Punjabi dialogues heightened with effective, emotional and powerful expressions.
The play based on the plight of women captures the growing violence on women and society’s heartless attitude.
Those who acted in this play include Manik Sharma, Kannav Sharma, Amandeep Sharma, Lalti Sharma, Karan Mehra, Vishal Pandita, Safir Sabah, Surbhi Balgotra, Neha Bhat, Shubhangi Dhamir, Dipshi Mahajan, Niharika Sakshi, Sushmita Banerjee and Hema Shivgotra.
