JAMMU, Feb 29: Agitating KGBV female teachers, who are observing indefinite chain hunger strike for their regularization, continued their protest for the 14th day today and held a strong demonstration, near Press Club Jammu.
Shouting slogans against the Government and demanding their regularization, the agitating KGBV teachers tried to take out a protest rally towards Civil Secretariat but Police foiled their attempt.
The protest was led by Mymoona Khan, president of KGBV Female Teachers Association, who warned to further intensify the protest if their demand of regularization was not conceded. She announced to decide future mode of agitation on March 3.
“Despite already agreed in principle by the State Government and the incumbent Commissioner Secretary School Education that KGBV teachers are to be regularized on the analogy of ReT teachers, the concerned authorities have failed to issue formal orders for regularization of those who have completed five years of service,” she explained.
The Association president made it clear that the ongoing chain hunger strike would continue and the State Government, particularly the Commissioner Secretary School Education would be responsible in case of any untoward happening to the protesting teachers. She also condemned the Police action on female teachers, who were protesting for their genuine cause and had been highlighting the grievance.
“We warn the administration to shut its dictatorial attitude and issue the orders of regularization within two days otherwise the hapless female teachers may think of resorting to extreme step,” she warned.
Pertinent to mention that these KGBV female teachers are observing chain hunger strike since February 16, 2016, for issuance of their regularization order on the pattern of ReTs.
