POONCH, Feb 29: A family  from minority community today sat on hunger strike at Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar to lodge its protest against State and the District Administration as its huge land has allegedly been forcibly snatched by some members of majority community.
Six members of this family headed by Sat Pal Bhushan, son of Joginder Parkash,  residents of Ari in Mendhar today reached Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar and started protest  against the Government. Victimised by the corrupt  and biased system, this minority family again came out for the protest alleging that  for the last four years, they have been moving  to the Patwaris, Girdawars, Naib Tehsildar and Tehsildar offices but they have not received any justice.  Even this family had gone on hunger strike at the same venue during September 2015 and they had called off on the assurance of DC Poonch, but no relief could be provided  to this hapless family.
Satpal alleged that he had 75 kanal and 8 marlas of land but now only 5 kanal and five marla land has been left with him while rest of the land has been grabbed by three villagers Ziyafat Hussain, Nazir Hussain and Munawar Hussain Shah ( Ex-Cop) hailing from the same village, in connivance with the Patwaris and others. They tempered the revenue record  in Khasra No. 688/675/677/727 to give benefit to the favourites. There is no check at all. Even being the lone minority family at the village, they are being harassed as some times their electric connection is snapped or water pipe is broken. He alleged that neither revenue authorities not police authorities pay any heed.
As the SDM was out of station, Tehsildar Slam Din said that he had nothing to do in the matter. It has been referred to the DC Poonch. DC Poonch M H Mailk however, said that he has directed the SDPO to talk to the family and send them to his office tomorrow. He said that he would hold an inquiry into the matter and provide justice to the family.
