JAMMU, Mar 1: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Sahib Aggarwal seeking direction to the respondents to strictly implement the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010, Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed the Chief Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department to take appropriate steps to redress the grievances expressed in the petition.
After hearing Advocate Sahib Aggarwal, DB disposed of the PIL with the observation that the main grievance of the petitioner is that inspite of filing representation dated 07.12.2015 before the Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering, Jammu and even suggestions were also given for installing water alarms to avoid overflowing of water, no action has been taken.
The DB directed Chief Engineer PHE to consider the representation filed by the petitioner and take appropriate steps to redress the grievances expressed by him within a period of eight week.
