RAMBAN, Mar 1: Police arrested a drug peddler along with poppy straw from Baggu nallah area, falling under the jurisdiction of Batote police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from police station Batote laid a special naka at Baggu nallah and intercepted a Jammu bound Tavera car bearing registration number JK01AP-7637.
During checking, 15 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from a gunny bag kept beneath passenger seats and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Sadiq Hussain, son of Abdul Kareem, a resident of Sunderani, tehsil Tikri, district Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 15/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
The arrest has been made by SHO Batote police station Inspector Sameer Jeelani under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
