JAMMU, Mar 2: Ramban Police Station has registered a FIR against three persons for attacking a Government officer on duty under relevant Sections of the law.
The SHO Police Station Ramban when contacted said that on the basis of a complaint filed by Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department, Ramban, Ashok Kumar Pangotra, three persons have been booked for attacking him while he was discharging the Government duties.
Pangotra said that he has received grievous injuries in the attack and alleged that some elements are hell bent on eliminating him as he had highlighted a scandal worth crores of rupees in the department. Pangotra had already approached the Advisor to Governor, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai and Chief Secretary, B R Sharma seeking their immediate intervention in the matter and demanding a through probe into the RDD scam in Ramban and action against the guilty.
Pangotra said that he was appointed to probe the scam by then RDD authorities and he had named some officials in his report submitted to higher authorities. But instead of taking action against those officials the department made him a scapegoat and the goons were ganging up against him since then, he added.
