Cardamom prices down on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Mar 5:  Prices of cardamom small fell by Rs 10 per kg in the national capital today due to easing demand from retailers and stockists prevailing at higher levels amid adequate stocks.
Increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom small prices.
Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold prices declined by Rs 10 each to conclude at Rs 500-605, Rs 530-540, Rs 560-570 and Rs 600-610 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down cardamom prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 250-350, black pepper (per kg) 670-850, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,330-1,340 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,400-1,750.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 500-605, cardamom (colour robin) 530-540, cardamom bold 560-570, cardamom extra (bold) 600-610 and cloves 550-670. (PTI)
