Justice Mir for effective coordination between Labour Deptt, SLSA

JAMMU, Mar 5: Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Executive Chairman Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA) today asked the Labour Department to coordinate with JKSLSA for effective implementation of various welfare schemes for the workers in the unorganized sector.
Justice Mir was chairing a high level meeting to review implementation of the welfare schemes for workers in unorganized sector as a follow-up to the 2-day workshop on the issue organized by JKSLSA at Jammu University last month.
Commissioner Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department, Nirmal Sharma, Labour Commissioner Vipra Bhal and Member Secretary JKSLSA, R N Watal were present at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Justice Mir called for identification of unorganized workers, opening of facilitation centres for their registration and holding of awareness camps at tehsil and district headquarters to make them aware of various social security schemes in vogue.
Commissioner Secretary, Labour Department assured that all steps for identification and registration of unorganized workers will be taken in collaboration with all the stakeholders.
Pertinently, the State Government has recently contituted the Social Security Board under Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008.
