JAMMU, Mar 5: An impressive Shiv Barat was taken out on the eve of Maha Shivratri here today.
It was organized by Shri Ranbireshwar Mandir Welfare Committee (SRMWC) along with Jammu and Kashmir Dharamarth Trust. The Shobha Yatra started at 1530 hours from Shri Ranbireshwar Ji Mandir and passed from main bazars viz. City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Residency road , Rajinder Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Old Hospital road, Purani Mandi, Link road, Jain Bazar, Chowk Chabutra, Panjthirthi, Pacca Danga Parade Chowk and in the end finally culminated at Shri Ranbireshwar Ji Temple.
Prior to departure of Shiv Barat, Pooja of Lord Shiva was performed by Vikramaditya Singh (MLC) and Trustee J&K Dharmarth Trust, Rajesh Gupta MLA Jammu East, Sat Sharma (CA) MLA Jammu West, Priya Sethi, former Minister, Dupty Commissioner Jammu, senior police officers and advocate Avinav and advocate M K Bhardwaj.
Shobha Yatra was led by Chariot of Lord Shiva followed by various Jhankies of religious / social organizations viz Peer Kho Mandir, Bave Wala Mandir Hudh Mata Committee Jammu Province News Paper Vendor Association, Dewan Mandir Natak Samaj, (Peer Kho), Jammu Province Newspaper Vendor Association, Dewan Mandir Natak Samaj Mandli, Radha Krishan Temple Panjtirthi, Nat Manch, Trinetra Dhari Shiv Shamboo Seva Dal Parade road , Bajrangi Ahkara.
During the Shobha Yatra Jammuities were enthralled with the religious tunes of ” Billa Band ” and the whole city gives a festive look . Various traders , religious organizations of old city have organized Bhandaras (Langars) at various places for the devotees in the Yatra Marg. Mahant of the temple Swami Shri Rishi Ban , secretary Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust Shashi Khajuria along with staff members took part in Shobha Yatra and extended heartiest Maha Shivratri wishes to Jammuites.
All the members of SRMWC took part in this Shiv Barat.
The authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the Shoba yatra.
Another Shoba Yatra as a part of Shivratri celebrations was taken out by Brahma Kumaries in Kathua. The Shoba Yatra which stared from college road Centre of Prajapita Brahma Kumaries Ishwariya Vishwa Vidhalaya was flagged off by Dr Bharat Bushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority in presence of Didi B K Veena Ji, Director of Brahma Kumaries Centre Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion B K Vena said that Shivratri is such a festival which reminds us how to get rid of evils and lead a pious life.
